The dark is generous, and it is patient, and it always wins. It always wins because it is everywhere. It is in the wood that burns in your hearth, and in the kettle on the fire; it is under your chair and under your table and under the sheets on your bed. Walk in the midday sun, and the dark is with you, attached to the soles of your feet. The brightest light casts the darkest shadow.
Though this is the end of the age of heroes, it has saved its best for last.

NAME: Anakin Skywalker
CANON: Star Wars
CANON POINT: Mid Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
AGE: 23
BACKGROUND: Wiki Link

PERSONALITY: Anakin Skywalker was considered to be thoughtful and intelligent. He was also friendly and easily got along with others. He was good-natured and tried his best to help those he cared about. His status as a slave did not seem to be matter. His mother held a strong place in his heart. He would constantly build things to help her out either by selling them or lightening her workload. When he met the Jedi he was very helpful to them, going out of his way to try and aide them in getting off planet. It was his own idea to risk his life in a prodrace and giving them the reward. Though he was generally friendly he also held grudges and was vengeful. He tried to keep those two traits in check, however. Another trait of his was how he did not like being treated unjustly. It would frustrate him to no end to be wrongly accused of something. He was also extremely loyal, something which would stick with him much into his adulthood.

The hardest situation he was ever put into was the separation from his mother. Even years later it still threatened to consume him. He missed her more than anything else. But someone else he also thought of constantly was Padmé -- a woman he would eventually grow to love. He mostly kept to himself over fear of losing more people he cared about. His only friends seemed to be the Temple Droids. He also grew close to Obi-Wan, whom he considered to be a father figure. However, his ego also began to grow with his status as the "Chosen One" and rising star of the Jedi. He grew prideful, eventually getting to a point where he hated being reprimanded or lectured at all.

He was generally honest and despised lying, though he did it to protect his own secrets. He would lie only when it was to protect something important to him. He generally disliked politics and politicians whom he considered to be greedy and self-conceited -- though this did not include Padmé and Palpatine.

His own relationship with Obi-Wan was rocky at times, Anakin was often left in doubt to whether he was even liked by his mentor. He craved the such attention that it drove him to another source -- Palpatine. Anakin, above all else, wanted to be loved -- to be appreciated. Which was something he felt most people did not give him. He held a strong devotion to Padmé, which almost bordered on obsession. He would not let anything happen to her even if it meant breaking his own rules.

He often felt frustrated even at the order itself. His own ego and arrogance lead him to believe that he was the most powerful Jedi ever. That he could easily beat any other Jedi out there. He was the "Chosen One" after all. Sometimes he grew mistrustful of the council itself, thinking that the Jedi merely feared him. That they didn't understand him. The one person he truly believed understood what he was going through was Palpatine, whom he considered a close friend despite his place in politics.

Anakin only confided in a few people, and some secrets he only kept to himself not wanting to let others in on what was going on. But his emotions often showed strong, often chiding Obi-Wan to tell him to be mindful of his own thoughts.

Anakin had a working (though close) relationship with the clone troopers under his command. He often fought side by side with them on the frontlines and his chain of command was lax at best. As he usually improvised and made up plans as he went alone, he expected his men to be adaptable and do them. As unorthodox as he was he needed them to do the same, and be willing to act on their own and bend the rules. He held a great deal of respect for them and would never order or risk any of their lives without his own also being on the line. He felt deeply responsible for them, and any loss hurt him deeply as he considered it one of his own failures. If possible he would try and save them all, refusing to leave any behind. This earned him a mutual respect from his troopers. He was one of them -- a fellow soldier -- who would always fight at their side and do everything in his power to save them.

When Anakin was first assigned the Padawan Ahsoka, he was not thrilled with the idea at all. He eventually came to accept the responsibility of having to train someone, though it started out slightly rocky before he really felt up to the task. As they share a lot of the same traits (brave, bold, willing to take risks, determination), they developed an understanding with each other. He did his best to guide her and is even willing to take the blame for her actions. She’s his student and his ultimate responsibility. As such he grows protective of her and does not want to lose her or even risk putting her in obvious danger. Like with Obi-Wan and Padme, Anakin was deeply attached to Ahsoka. While other Jedi could accept the loss of their Padawan, that is something Anakin could not do. Even when she decided to leave the Order, he protested against it. Her walking away left him feeling alone and greater increased his frustrations with the Jedi Council. He blamed them and felt that they betrayed her. While being her mentor helped him mature as a person, her walking away also left him emotionally shattered and added to the list of those he’s lost over the years.

Deep down, Anakin cared far too much than he should. It would be his own raw emotions, and over abundance to stop people from dying that would continually lead him to the path of the darkside.

POWERS/ABILITIES:

Those who can use the force Jedi like Anakin can sense the emotions of beings around them, they cannot however read minds, just how people are feeling. This is more of an empathetic type ability than being psychic – though with that said, some force users can bend the will of the weak-minded and guide them to do whatever they want. They can also use the force to increase their speed or agility beyond that of normal humans (they can jump higher or move faster).

They can also sense danger, though they can’t exactly tell what will happen just that something will take place. This aides in their reflexes in combat and enables them to perform rather dangerous moves.

They do have some limited telekinesis, such as the ability to lift objects or throw them with just their mind. The size and length of time they can do this all depends on the concentration of the force user. Small objects such as a rock or their lightsaber weapon doesn't take much, but anything extremely big or extremely heavy does and can greatly wear out the Jedi who attempts it for too long. It's this same ability that also allows them to push people or items, again that also depends on the size and the weight of the object.
Anakin had visions of the future through the force, but they came in the form of dreams or nightmares and he couldn't always tell the difference.

Even with all these abilities, Jedi were still normal in the sense that they could be harmed and killed. It might be slightly harder, but most were not invulnerable and still made mistakes. Their morals, voice of reason, falling to their emotions, and ultimate choices were still up to them, so regular human error was their biggest weakness.
Due to the nature of Chroma Anakin’s general Jedi abilities are limited to how much he has at any given time.

INVENTORY: The Jedi robes on his back and his lightsaber.

Anakin Skywalker
The Chosen One
Letting go of rational thought, he surrendered himself to instinct, to the odd quirk within that made him one with machines. The same quirk that had melded him almost effortlessly with his prosthetic limb and perhaps was the reason he’d lost none of his connection with the Force, even though his arm and hand were made of metal. He looks the dragon in the eye and doesn’t even slow down.

Drabble

Sometimes I wonder ...

I don't even know what I am doing anymore. I'm a Jedi pure and simple -- at least that is what I keep telling myself. But deep down I feel like I'm something else. I'm not how I should be.

Obi-Wan is a real Jedi, though I may never tell him that. I know I should strive to be more like him. Upholding the Jedi ways, the Order, everything.

But sometimes I don't want to.

I want to break away, to stop holding onto the light. But I fear if I do, I will lose myself all together.

In the back of my mind I feel a darkness -- a darkness that wishes to devour me. It feeds off my anger and even my over all emotions. I hold it at bay, but with each passing moment it seems to grow stronger. And there are times when I wish I could just let go.

There is one thing in this entire universe that holds me back from doing so. A light within the ever growing dark. And it is something I am forced to hide.

But why should I? Why do the Jedi have to shun love the way they do? Why can't we rejoice in what it brings? It makes me happy, but I don't think the Jedi order cares about my happiness.

It's a selfish thought and I know Obi-Wan would scold me without even bothering to first listen. He never does. He would never even understand what I'm going though.

There have been times when I wish I could tell him everything. Just let it all out. But I know what would happen, he'd turn me into the Council and it would all be over. But then I wonder if that would even matter? It is not like they even have the power to stop me.

I could take Padme and run away. Run from it all, but I could not do that to her. Rip her straight out of her life -- even with me, I could not just walk away. I want to, but I can't.

So I continue the lies, the deceit the hiding of the very thing that is most important to me.

But --

As long as she is there --

I need nothing else.

INFO

The Chosen One

name Anakin Skywalker age 23 homeworld Tatooine occupation Jedi Knight parents Shmi Skywalker

history
Anakin Skywalker was born in 41.9 BBY. His mother was named Shmi Skywalker and she claimed to have conceived her child without a father. It is theorized that Palpatine attempted to manipulate the force to create the ultimate Sith weapon. The force knowing what the evil sith was attempting to do created Anakin in retaliation though it is uncertain if this is true or not (as Disney has not yet made anything official). Shmi and Anakin made their home on the planet known as Tatoonie where they soon became slaves to Gardulla the Hutt. However, they were soon lost in a bet to a junk dealer known as Watto.

Anakin was known for being able to build and repair almost anything. He created a protocol droid named C-3PO and his own podracer. It was a feat that he completed only at the age of nine.

Though it wasn't until 32 BBY that things changed for him. Due to chance of fate, Anakin met Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn, Jar Jar Binks, R2-D2, and Padmé Amidala, whom he felt an instant connection to. He offered them shelter when a sandstorm begin. There they would recount their tale of how they ended up on such a dreaded planet. Moved with compassion for their plight, he offered to enter a podrace. The prize money would buy the parts needed to repair their starship. Anakin's mother, Shmi, initially objected, but later agreed to let her son race.

However, before the race, Qui-Gon Jinn also made a bet with Watto. If the boy were to win he would be freed. Watto was convinced that the boy would lose anyway so he agreed to the bet. Anakin's Force sensitivity gave him an advantage in the race, he was able to operate the podracer with lightning-fast reflexes much more than the average human would have been able to do so.

In the end Anakin was able to win the race and was freed. However, his mother was unable to receive the same fate and so the young boy was forced to choose between staying with his mother or becoming a Jedi. Though he agreed to go with Qui-Gon he promised that he would some day return and free his mother as well. Though they ran into some troubles, the group was able to make it back to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant where he would face the Jedi High Council. The Council tested him but later concluded that he was simply too old to become a Jedi Padawan. Qui-Gon Jinn didn't agree with their decision, but could do nothing about it. Since he had no where else to go, Anakin followed the Jedi on their mission to Naboo.

By accident Anakin found himself in the middle of the Battle of Naboo. He joined the battle in orbit and was able to single-handedly destroy the Droid Control Ship thus saving the Gungan Grand Army in the process. However the celebration did not last for Qui-Gon Jinn was slain by Darth Maul. Obi-Wan Kenobi agreed to his master's dying wish to train the young Anakin Skywalker. The Council finally agreed to allow his training.

Though they initially had a rocky start, Anakin eventually formed a close bond with Obi-Wan. His own arrogance, however, did often get in the way as he felt himself superior to most of the other Jedi. Sometimes he found himself turning to another mentor for advice, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. Obi-Wan and Anakin had a few missions together before 28 BBY, which was the time Anakin constructed his first lightsaber.

Both Obi-Wan and Anakin went on several missions for many years before one would lead dastardly effects. During one such mission Anakin was kidnapped by a gang leader known as Striker, he attempted to lure Anakin away from the Jedi Order but the young man refused. Eventually he made Anakin arrange a meeting with himself and Yaddle, which in turn was a trap set for the Jedi. He released a chemical weapon that ended up killing Yaddle when she absorbed it through the force as she sacrificed herself to save the city of Naatan. Anakin felt responsible for the death of Yaddle. Anakin held a great deal of guilt over what happened and it caused friction between him and Obi-Wan.

Just around his twentieth birthday an attempt was made on Padmé Amidala's life. Anakin Skywalker was assigned to protect her and escort her back to Naboo. He thought about her everyday that they were apart for almost ten years. Eventually his thoughts turned into infatuation and then into love. Amidala eventually returned his feelings, though she was more concerned with duty and obligation. The Jedi were to avoid any form of attachment.

During this time Anakin had been having nightmares about Shmi, his mother. He went against the spirit of his orders and brought Padmé to Tatooine. He soon discovered that a man named Cliegg Lars had freed and married his mother -- however later he also discovered that she had been abducted by Tusken Raiders. Anakin set out in pursuit of her. He came across the Tusken camp beyond the B'Thazoshe Bridge. He freed her, but it was too late and she died in arms, but not before seeing him for a last time.

The shock of her death sent him into a rage where he killed everyone present. While Padmé was troubled over what happened she tried to comfort him with sympathy, and told no one what happened. Anakin later stated that he would someday have the power to stop people from dying.

While they were still there, Anakin found out that Obi-Wan Kenobi had been taken hostage by the droid forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. He was going to stay on Tatooine and protect Padmé, which was Mace Windu's orders. Padmé convinced him that he needed to rescue his mentor and they both ended up traveling to Geonosis. They infiltrated droid foundries, but eventually were captured and sentenced to die. Faced with their new fate, they both professed their love for one another. However, all was not lost as the other Jedi arrived and then the clone troopers which allowed them both to escape.

Anakin and Obi-Wan pursued Count Dooku. They engaged in battle that ended up with Anakin losing his arm. The two were rescued by Yoda and Anakin's forearm was replaced with a mechno-arm.

A short time later. Padmé and Anakin were married at Varykino on Naboo in a secret ceremony. C-3PO and R2-D2 were the only witnesses. During the Clone Wars, Anakin Skywalker was well on his way to becoming a legendary hero. He was soon dubbed the "Hero With No Fear." His ego, however, also began to grow. Despite the name, Anakin held much fear over the lives of others, especially Padmé whom he tried to meet whenever he could. He wrote her letters, but mostly the only time they got to see each other was whenever she was in danger.

Sometime during the clone wars, Anakin would encounter Asajj Ventress who soon became his nemesis throughout the war.

After the Battle of Praestilyn and the Mission to Vjun, Anakin was endowed with the title of Jedi Knight. He never went through the traditional Jedi Trials, however. The decision was controversial, but eventually Yoda decided to have him Knighted in a secret ceremony. Anakin later sent his Padawan braid to Padmé as a devotion gift.

Sometime later he was ambushed by Asajj Ventress, who had eavesdropped on Anakin as he listened to a secret holodisc recording and discovered his relationship with Padmé. She taunted him with threats to kill Padmé. They both engaged in a lightsaber duel where Anakin received a vertical scar above and below his right eye. However, Ventress made the mistake of underestimating Anakin and the new Jedi Knight was able to prevail.

Anakin and Obi-Wan continued to fight in the clone wars in the outer rim until an attack on Coruscant brought them back home.

abilities
The Jedi draw all of their abilities from something known as the “Force.” The Force is the power that binds all living creatures together. Their emotions, conduct and life itself all make up part of this power. The Force itself was said to be composed primarily of two parts: a light side and a dark side. The light side dealt with the ideals of good, healing, and harmony with life around them. The dark side relied on anger, passion, and hate.

However, only certain individuals can draw from this power, and they are known as being force sensitive, such as the Jedi. The Jedi used the light side of the force and normally meditated to clear their thoughts and emotions. Emotion itself guided the effects of the one's abilities when it came to what part of the force they drew from or how they used it. This is why the dark side is very easy to draw upon compared to the light side – it's easier to give in to hate than it is to not focus on feelings at all.

There are some other view points of the force (unifying, living), but the dark and light are the main two.

Which is kind of like using a good or evil conscience. But the Jedi believe that once one gives into their anger or hate and fall to completely using the dark side, they can never be brought back to the using the light. The dark side acts kind of like a drug that takes hold and is said to consume those who use it.

And that is why the Jedi speak against giving in to emotions and passions.

Jedi normally used the Force to increase their agility, speed, and attune themselves to their surroundings. This makes them faster than the average human and almost gives the appearance of seeing events before they happen.

Which some can do, but it's not entirely common. Their attunement merely allows them to sense the emotions or feelings of living beings around them. This is more of an empathetic type ability than being psychic – though with that said, some force users can bend the will of the weak-minded and guide them to do whatever they want.

These mentally-based abilities also don't really work on anyone with a strong will-power or mind. Only someone with extensive training would ever be able to really break into someone's mind to any great degree.

Some (like Anakin) can use this to sense danger. Which isn't really knowing what will happen, but that something will. This also helps with reflexes in combat (something about to hit them, getting shot, etc).

Those who use the dark side could use this form of telekinesis to choke others from a distance. The Jedi did not use this ability because it did draw upon anger and hate.

I sense you're on edge.
I'm fine, Master.
When did you last rest?
A while ago. But really, I'm fine. Besides, I could fly this thing in my sleep.
That's not very reassuring.
